Class Outline and Dates
Classes for the spring session will begin February 23rd with an intensive audition class for everyone who is enrolled, all ages. Audition tips will be given and practiced. Auditions will immediately follow. Students will learn a few lines of a song, then will have a chance to sing individually; will learn a few steps of the choreography and will dance in small groups; then will have a chance to read from the script - see the bottom of this page for script exerpt that will be used at auditions. Song and dance numbers will be learned cold at the auditions. Results will be posted two hours after auditions are done, and classes begin the Tuesday after, on February 26th. Every student will be cast in the show and get to perform on stage in the end of class performances on April 26 and 27.
Classes are held every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 until noon. During the Tuesday night classes, groups will work on their specific area of interest. On Saturday morning, the students will be split into three groups that will rotate through one hour each of dance, voice and acting, resulting in each and every student getting to practice all three aspects of music theater. Starting with the fifth week of Saturday classes, students will begin practicing the show straight through. The weeks of April 13-25 will feature extra tech and dress rehearsals so we can get the show ready to present! These rehearsals will be outlined in a rehearsal schedule that will be available at auditions.
Performances will be held on April 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the show are simply $1 at the door.

TOM: That'd be powerful good, Aintie. But, can I stay a minute 'n see my friends?
AUNT POLLY (hesitates): All right, Tom. You kin stay, but don't be too long. There'll be sweet cream to go with the pie!
SELECTION #2
JUDGE THATCHER and INJUN JOE: all boys 13 and older
JUDGE THATCHER (acknowledging applause): Thank you, my friend! It warms my heart to be asked to participate in this joyous occasion, and to present the prize to such a fine, upstanding young man, a credit to St. Petersburg, to the state of Missouri and to our great nation. But first, I'd like y'all to meet my family. My wife, Mrs. Thatcher (motions toward her); my son, Jeff; and my little girl, Rebecca. On behalf of my family, I want to thank each of you for making us welcome to St. Petersburg.
INJUN JOE: You! What's your name? Speak up when I speak to you. What's your name, boy? Huh?
TOM (barely able to utter a sound): Tom Sawyer... sir!
INJUN JOE (laughing): Well, it looks like you already know who I am. Ha ha ha! Hey, you ain't one of them boys that's been sneakin' around the old tannery behind Widder Douglas's, tryin' to steal my things, are you? (TOM shakes his head vigorously) Welll, if you see any of 'em, you better tell 'em to stay away! I got permission from Widder Douglas to sleep there, since I ain't got no place else. You hear me, boy?
