Team One is the team that will create a new reality on the stage with the help of sets to create a setting, props to create realism and stage management to move those pieces to the proper places at the proper times.
Team One will follow several basic steps: first, they will work with their instructor to review the script to find what is needed in the way of sets for this show, then meet with the director to design sets for the show. Students will build a scale model of the sets, learn about the best materials for set building, then take part in the actual building and painting of the set pieces. They will also have the opportunity to learn about props, reading through the script and seeing what is called for, but also using their imaginations to dream up even more props to make the show as real as possible. They will be shown how to draw and write up prop and set diagrams and placement sheets, and how to follow them. They will then be stage hands for each show (as much as possible, depending on their role in the play).
